Could you survive the Call?”-Summary from Goodreads
Review: When I first got this book from BookCon, I knew only a little bit of what this book was about. Since it was coming out last month, I decided to read it last month and see how it was. And I’m very happy that I did. This book is so suspenseful and creepy from the beginning, making you read it to the end.
Also, it’s best if you don’t know much about this book when going into it. So go read it before reading more of this review.
Now you will see how creepy things can get right away. As well as how badly these fairies can be if they catch you. The whole call thing made me shudder and scared for my life because I know that I wouldn’t survive. Unless I had training just like the characters did in this book. Basically, kids at the age of ten go to these colleges that train them to survive the call. The problem is they can get called at any time, so whether you are trained or not it only matters if you get ready for it.
Nessa, the main character, was great. I was so happy she survived the call even thought her legs were bad, including killing Conor, who wanted to kill her. It had been nice to see her get a happy ending, as well as a happy life. Also, the cast of characters was very diverse in this book, which was a positive.
Another thing I liked was getting to read the chapters of them as they were trying to survive their call. You also get to know what happens to them and sometimes it wasn’t pretty.
The world the author created is really cool, but I do wish there was more showing of how it got to this point instead of just telling. Also, the whole ending felt rushed so I hope in the finished version it will be clearer and slowed down.
Overall, this book is worth the read if you can get your hands on it.
Have fun reading!!!
