Why I Haven’t Been Posting Reviews And My Book

Hello, Book lovers,

I’m sorry for not writing book reviews a lot. Even though I haven’t been doing book reviews, I have been reading a lot of books that I can’t wait to write a review for.

I have been busy with college(I’m in my last year), finding a summer job, and most importantly with writing and editing my own book.

It’s this book that has been taking a lot of my attention and time.

I will be starting to write more book reviews as I get better with time management. I will be post two new book reviews for all of you to read.

So, I am writing a book. This story has been with me for 5 to 6 years and I’m so happy to finally be self-publishing it for other people, as well it being out into the world instead of inside of my computer.

It’s an Urban Fantasy story set in Chicago, IL in the year 2030 and will be a six book series.

The series follows a halfer(half-human, half-demon) named Juri Night, who must stop her uncle from creating a war in the city of Chicago that could end all human life, including the lives of good demons and halfers.

The first book is called Serien.

Thank you so much for reading this post. I hope you have a great day.

Have fun reading!!!

Difference between High Fantasy and Urban Fantasy

I have been reading Fantasy for most of my life since I started reading back in middle school. At first, I thought fantasy was one genre, which it is, but it does branch out.

It branches out into:

-High Fantasy

-Urban Fantasy

Now both are different, not just by their name, but by the content that goes into them.

Urban Fantasy is when it takes place in the real world with magical creatures. There is basically a world hidden that regular humans can not see but people who know of this other world.

An example of this would be Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter Chronicles, like The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. Another would be The Girl at Midnight, The Iron Fey Series, and The Night Circus.

What all of these have in common is that they are all set in a place here on earth with magical creatures and a magic system. There might a place the author created for the story, but that doesn’t make it high fantasy because it is still set on earth, just regular people can’t see it or go there.

High Fantasy is when the author creates a whole new world with characters of different races and usually has kingdoms mixed with a magic system. Earth has no part in these stories at all. Everyone in this world knows what lives among them.

An example of this is all of Sarah J. Maas’ book, TruthWitch, Shadow and Bone, and Six of crows.

With High Fantasy comes a lot of characters and plot stuff you need to remember, which can be hard for some people. These stories do expect you to remember what happened in the last book when the next one comes out, as well as characters.

My suggestion is if you want to read High Fantasy, then start reading low high fantasy. Ones that don’t have many characters and/or a big magic system.

I hope you have found this post helpful. I will be doing a book suggestion post soon.

Have fun reading!!!
