Three Dark Crowns-Book Review(No Spoilers)

Author: Kendare Blake

Series: Three Dark Crowns #1

Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Summary: “When kingdom come, there will be one.

In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born—three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.

But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins.

The last queen standing gets the crown.”-Summary from Goodreads

Review: I didn’t know what I was getting into when reading this book. I knew what it was about, but I had no idea what would happen in this first book.

Now, I just want to say nothing big happens for two-thirds of this book. The last third of this book is perfect.

The story is solid. It was well-thought out and it felt different from other fantasy stories, which was refreshing. There is a part of me that is happy there will only be two books, so I don’t have to wait long for the ending.

The characters were well written. Kendare Blake knows how to write characters and make them have different voices, from each other. Though the romance for me went too fast. Characters were already making out and falling in love too fast. It would have been nice to see the romance to slowly develop instead of things going fast.

There are a lot of characters you will be introduced to, so you will have to remember each one since there is no appendix.

Overall, this book is worth the read if you want a different type of fantasy story or liked Kendare Blakes other books. I do suggest you read a few fantasy books before this one in order to get ready to keep track of characters that appear. I can’t wait to read book twi when it gets released this year.

Have fun reading!!!

The Young Elites-Book Review

Author: Marie Lu

Rating: 5/5 Stars

Summary: Adelina Amouteru has survived the blood fever that spread across the land, but that doesn’t leave her unscarred. Along the way, she meets a group called the young elite, who are also known as the dagger society. So not only is the Inquisition Axis hunting down malfettos like Adelina, but they are hunting down this group. Adelina learns more about herself as well as her powers in the first book of this trilogy.

Review: I will start by saying how I should have read this book sooner because it was so good. Marie Lu knows how to write dark and sexy stories, including characters.

What I loved most about this book was how different it felt while I read it. The story was something new to read for me. The characters didn’t feel like a mixture of other characters I read. Just everything in this book was different.

I loved the characters. I grew to love them but then with some other characters I grew to hate them. Adelina is one of my favorite heroines. Her character brings something new to the table of heroines.

I think it’s great that this book and Legend trilogy feel different from each other, which is good because I want to love both trilogies on different levels since one is dystopian and the other is high fantasy.

I recommend that if you liked Marie Lu’s Legend trilogy, then read The Young Elites, especially if you like dark and sexy stories, you will love this book.

Have fun reading!!!

Stitchers-Season One Review (Spoiler Free)

I’m just going to go ahead and say that I love this show!

When I first saw a trailer for this show, I watched to watch it the day it was going to air, but I forgot it and never watched it.

But, now, I have watched the whole first season. A very strong first season I must say.

Episodes 1 through 10 are ones that just don’t let up. They give you information in every episode that helps you to understand what has happened in the past of the characters or about what is going on around them. I loved how each episode ends in a way that makes you want to watch more, especially episode 10 when it makes you want to watch season 2. I am in love with how different this show is compared to other shows. It’s like a breath of fresh air.

I’m not one to like short seasons but I’m glad this season had a good amount(10-11) of episodes because things didn’t get dragged out. Also, I didn’t feel like there was any info dumping in any of these episodes. This season was perfect. Just amazing.

If episode 10 doesn’t give you the feels, then why? It gave me the bucket load of feels.

Now I’m going to say something about episode 11. It’s not a spoiler or anything, but it’s something I think sound be said. If you don’t want to know, then stop reading and skip to the bottom of this review.

Episode 11 is a filler episode and not a continuation of episode 10.  By filler episode I mean it’s an episode that does not continue the story that is happening in the season. Filler episodes will usually take place sometime in the middle of season when nothing big has happened yet. I’m just getting this out there so that you don’t get disappointed like I did when I saw that episode 11 was a filler episode.

I would give this season a 4.5/5 stars.

I believe this show is worth the watch, and I think it is one of Freeform’s best shows next to Shadowhunters. So sit back and relax and binge the first season of Stitchers. You won’t regret it.

Welcome!

Hello, my name is Ashlie and welcome to my blog.

Here I will post reviews, videos I upload to my channel, and Wrap-up including TBR for the month. My reviews are usually short and don’t go into much detail because I’m slowly getting better at writing longer reviews, also I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone.

I might also post stuff about writing, like advice but we shall see.

So, I hope you have a great day. Thank you for reading this first post.

Bye.
