The Demon In The Woods-Book Review(Non-Spoiler)

Author: Leigh Bardugo

Series: The Girsha Trilogy #0.1

Rating: 5/5 Stars

Summary: A short story about the Darkling’s past.

Review: I love looking into the past of Villians. It gives me more info on how they were before. I did like this short story since we hardly get much information in the Girsha Trilogy about the Darkling. So it was great to see what happened in his past that made him be the way he is when Shadow and Bone starts. I will say that what happened to him in this story was sad and I did feel bad for him.

Overall, worth the read if you like the Girsha Trilogy and/or would like to know more about the Darkling.

Have fun reading!!!

Ruin and Rising-Book Review (Slight Spoilers)

Author: Leigh Bardugo

Series: The Girsha Trilogy #3

Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Summary: “The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.

Now the nation’s fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.

Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.

Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova’s amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling’s secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction—and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for.” -Summary from GoodReads

Review: I have been putting off reading this book for so long. Reason being I didn’t want this story to end, so I never read the last book in this series. I am trying to change my ways of not reading the last book in a series. Now, onto talking about the actual book.

The beginning of the book was so slow. It was so boring because nothing was happening, and I was so close to putting it down and DNF it. But, I’m not a quitter, so I continued to read, hoping it would get better and pick up. It did.

From after the first fifty pages to the ends, is so good. I had to read till the end because of everything that was happening. Especially what was happening to the characters.

The ending was that type of ending that was tied in a perfect bow(a.k.a happy ending) and liked that. I always like the endings that show the characters living a nice, happy life after going through so much.

The characters were still my favorites throughout this book. Except for the Darkling. I just don’t care for him. I love Mal more than him. Leigh Bardugo wrote the dialogue so perfectly. I love the dialogue between characters. It’s so funny and just so good to read.

Overall, this book was a perfect last book, except for the first fifty pages. It is worth the read for what happens.

Have fun reading!!!
