Blood of Elves-Book Review(No Spoilers)

Author: Andrzej Sapkowski

Series: The Witcher #1

Rating: 4/5 Stars

Summary: “The New York Times bestselling series that inspired the international hit video game: The Witcher.
For over a century, humans, dwarves, gnomes, and elves have lived together in relative peace. But times have changed, the uneasy peace is over, and now the races are fighting once again. The only good elf, it seems, is a dead elf.

Geralt of Rivia, the cunning assassin known as The Witcher, has been waiting for the birth of a prophesied child. This child has the power to change the world – for good, or for evil.

As the threat of war hangs over the land and the child is hunted for her extraordinary powers, it will become Geralt’s responsibility to protect them all – and the Witcher never accepts defeat.

The Witcher returns in this sequel to The Last Wish, as the inhabitants of his world become embroiled in a state of total war.” -From Goodreads

Review: I have slowly been enjoying these books. I also enjoy that these books don’t need to be read in order to play the games, which means I can enjoy both at any time.

Blood of Elves was very slow because it was trying to build up what is going to happen in the next book. Which was fine but it did make it hard to keep reading at times.

Besides that, I did enjoy going back into this world. I loved getting to read about characters I remember from playing the video game(Witcher 3) and seeing what they were up to. I loved that we were never in one character’s head, but in many.

The world in this book feels a lot bigger than it did in the Last Wish. There was a lot more world building, as well as getting no more about who lives in this world. It feels more unique and stood out from all the other fantasy books I have read before.

While there isn’t much character growth because of this being a book that is setting things up, it does set up the characters up and gives you enough background on them.  The author did a great job of not giving too much. Just enough to show that they will grow within the next book.

If you enjoyed the Last Wish or the video games, then I highly recommend reading these books. These are also great for people who enjoy adult fantasy.

Have fun reading!!

The Last Wish-Book Review

Author:Andrzej Sapkowski, Danusia Stok (Translator)

Series: The Witcher

Rating: 5/5 Stars

Summary: “Geralt de Rivia is a witcher. A cunning sorcerer. A merciless assassin. And a cold-blooded killer. His sole purpose: to destroy the monsters that plague the world. But not everything monstrous-looking is evil and not everything fair is good…and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.” -Summary from Goodreads

Review:I need the other books set in this universe. I just loved this book so much.

This book is full of short stories that are kind of connected to each other.

What made this book for me was the world and the characters. I wish I picked up this sooner because it’s totally up my alley.

The writing was good. It reminded me of George R.R. Martin’s writing, which was why I found this book easy to read. So, if you don’t like his type of writing his type of writing then don’t read this book, but I still think you should give it a shot.

Geralt was his usual emotionless self, which I love. Dandelion was so funny. He makes everything better sometimes. Yennifer did nothing for me. All it did was make me not like her. When they were having sex in the rubble of the building they were in made me laugh and shake my head. I was very happy when she mentioned Triss though. She is my favorite female character in this series.

I love how many magical creatures are in this world. There are so many and there are some I have never heard of before.

I will say that this book and series isn’t for everyone. This is a good read for those who are a fan of the games will really enjoy, especially those who enjoy fantasy and magical creatures.

Also a big thing, there is the mentions of boobs and sex, so if you don’t like reading that stuff, then don’t read this book.

Overall, this book was such a good read that I need to read the rest of these books.

Have fun reading!!!
