Before the Storm-Book Review(No Spoilers)

Author: Christie Golden

Series: World of Warcraft #18

Rating: 4/5 Stars

Summary: “Taking place after the climactic events of Shadows of Argus, World of Warcraft: Before the Storm tells the story of what awaits the heroes of the Horde and the Alliance in the wake of their struggle against the demonic Burning Legion.” -From Goodreads

Review: I have been waiting to read this book ever since the new expansion was announced, including this book.

Like always Christie Golden wrote a great WOW book. It’s not as great as War Crimes, but it still has the same feeling of a WOW book. I just feel like her writing wasn’t as good as her other WOW books.

The story was interesting at times. Though there were some side stories that didn’t need to be shown in this book. They could have just been told instead of devoting a chapter to it. A problem I had was that the Alliance seemed to have more chapters than the Horde, which made it hard for me to understand the Horde’s side of things because there was much about them. Don’t get me wrong, I love both sides in their own way, but there should have been a balance between the two.

The characters the same as always just a bit more developed in this one. There was one character that annoyed at the end with what they choose to do, which set things off when everything was going fine. I wished this book kind of hinted at why Sylvanas is acting the way she is since it seems they are putting her on the same path as Garrosh.

This book is definitely worth the read if you play World of Warcraft and/or want to what happens before the expansion.

Empire of Storms-Book Review(Slight Spoilers)

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Series: Throne of Glass #5

Aelin’s journey from assassin to queen has entranced millions across the globe, and this fifth installment will leave fans breathless. Will Aelin succeed in keeping her world from splintering, or will it all come crashing down?”- Summary from Goodreads

Review: Right after I finished EOS, I had to reread the first book. (I also had to reread it for a class so.) But, I did try to read three other books and failed. The just didn’t hold my attention.

This book was so much better than Heir of Fire and maybe Queen of Shadows. I was hoping for this book to meet my expectations and it did, and I’m so happy I read it.

The action is this book, I thought, was well done. There weren’t many, but that’s mostly because this is a book that leads to the last book and the final battle. Sarah J. Maas wrote these action scenes well that kept making you wonder if someone was going to die or not.

The story has gotten better in this book. Things do get explained finally, especially a certain thing. We also get to see places that we haven’t seen yet, as well as certain places we have been to before. (I would suggest rereading the novellas before reading this one.)

Aelin has become my favorite character again. She was so cool as she once was. I didn’t feel like she was annoying or loving Rowan all the time. I felt she was doing something important and becoming the queen she was born to be. The side characters were great like always. I have started liking Manon because of this book. Her story gets so much better. I have made my peace with Rowan. I just wish Chaol made an appearance in this book.

The romance is written so much better. Not at any point did I roll my eyes or hate it. I found myself enjoying it. Though there are three sex scenes in total. They are both very descriptive. They were like what you would have found in A Court Of Mist and Fury.

The ending…That damn ending is what will make you want the last book. It made me cry and gave me all of the feels.

Overall, Empire of Storms is a great read. It’s a step up from Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows. I highly suggest you try this book if you didn’t care for the other two I mentioned.

Stormrage: World of Warcraft-Book Review

Author: Richard A Knaak

Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Summary: Stormrage follows Tyrande Whisperwind and Broll as they try to save Malfurion from the Emerald Nightmare. Though the Emerald Nightmare has a life of its own and starts affecting all of Azeroth, pulling people into a deep sleep and bringing them anything but good dreams. So it’s up to them and a few others to stop the Emerald Nightmare from spreading.

Review: Stormrage was the first World of Warcraft book that confused me. Usually, with WOW novels I just read them without a problem but with this one, I got confused with what character was doing what.

The way I see it, the beginning was good, the middle was confusing, and the ending was amazing.

There were a lot of characters that were followed in this book, and I loved each of them. I was needing/wanting to see what would happen to them at the end.

The reason I’m giving this book 4.5 stars is because of how confusing this book made me while reading it. So many characters were doing different things, which was hard to keep track of what character was doing what because of how much that was going on at once, though it all came together in the end. The ending it what made the book for me. It was a perfect ending to wrap it all up, and my rating got bumped up because of that.

I do think this is a great World of Warcraft book. This book is the best one to read before the new World of Warcraft expansion comes out. The new expansion being Legion.

If you are a big fan of World of Warcraft and of the books, then you should read this one since it is definitely worth the read.
